Día de los Muertos
Celebrating with the living
Fall in Texas is a time to celebrate our rich and diverse culture. Día de los Muertos is a festive Mexican and Mexican-American holiday honoring lost family members and ancestors. Graves of loved ones are decorated, ofrendas (altars) are built to honor the dead, special foods like mole are eaten, and festivals and processions are held.
This Día de Los Muertos immerse yourself in a combination of unique costumes, parades, dancing, art shows, and activities everyone in the family can enjoy. Every year, citywide events like the Muertos Fest at La Villita offer free workshops, arts & crafts shows, and the largest open-altar exhibition in San Antonio. Coupled with live music performances & delicious cuisine selections, these celebrations create an unforgettable experience.
