The Crossvine – 2018 Year in Review
It’s been an exciting, accomplished year for The Crossvine, filled with all sorts of community events, fun new traditions, and new developments. Here’s a look at this year’s highlights as well as a sneak peak of what’s to come in 2019.
In January, The Crossvine donated custom-designed copies of Henry David Thoreau’s Walden and Jane Austen’s Pride & Prejudice to the Schertz Public Library and local schools. The books represent an effort to engage the community and promote reading initiatives for students.
This year, our community welcomed our first Lifestyle Coordinator, Lorrie Gutierrez, who planned and held a variety of engaging events. Food Truck Fridays, FIT4MOM, MixxedFit, Camp Gladiator, Concrete Yoga, Donuts with Dad, Schools Out Summer Bash, Kids of The Crossvine, Wine Club, National Night Out and many more created a fun atmosphere for family, friends, and neighbors to come out and spend quality time with one another.
We reached out to the bigger community around us through our sponsorship of Schertz Music + Movies in the Park. We watched light-hearted movies such The Lorax and Coco and hosted entertaining activities and themed giveaways: maracas during Cinco de Mayo and Santa Pet Pics for this month’s holiday movie. We look forward to continuing this tradition of film and fun in 2019.
During the summer we welcomed a new home builder to The Crossvine, Scott Felder Homes. With over 30 years of expertise and a portfolio of innovative designs, custom home projects, and a history of exceptional construction quality, our new builder partner understands the benefit of building to The Crossvine’s higher design standards. Scott Felder will be building new Texas-heritage style houses, along with David Weekley Homes, in the next phase of development that will also feature an extension of our greenbelt and trail system, a bocce ball court, community garden plots, and a large kid’s playscape.
Most recently, The Schertz EMS Fire Station 3 broke ground near the corner of FM 1518 and Lower Seguin Road. It will serve the growing population of Schertz, including The Crossvine. The new facility will include a wide array of EMS equipment and supplies for all sorts of situations, a living space for the firefighters, staff offices, and a community meeting room. This brand-new project is an integral addition to our community as it continues to establish a healthy and safe environment for residents.
We expanded The Crossvine family by 61 households this year and reached the major milestone of adding a full-time on-site HOA manager, Tracy Sullivan. Tracy is an Air Force veteran with invaluable experience managing large communities and fostering connectivity among residents. She is the perfect person to lead our HOA.
As 2018 nears its end, The Crossvine has a lot to look forward to in 2019. Construction will begin on Garden Homes and more single-family homes early next year, which will become available for residents later in 2019. The Crossvine continues to find new ways to engage residents and to advance the development of the community. We’re looking forward to adding more residents and community fun in 2019.
