SCHERTZ, Texas – On March 21, 2015, The Crossvine – the first mixed-use, master-planned community in Schertz, Texas – will celebrate its official Grand Opening. Featuring giveaways and a self-guided walking tour through the community, The Crossvine Grand Opening allows visitors to discover thoughtful, well-planned design as they tour the community’s amenities and public greenspaces, meander through the pedestrian friendly environment of the neighborhood on foot, and visit model homes by David Weekley Homes and Ryland Homes. The event is free for the public and will run from 10 am to 4 pm.

“This is the culmination of years of thought and planning, and we’re excited to debut the neighborhood to the public,” said Chris Price, President of The Crossvine development team. “The Crossvine is the first neighborhood of its kind in Schertz, offering residents a home that extends far beyond the physical structure – into the parks, amenities and shared spaces within the community. The Crossvine will be a place where families can put down roots and grow, alongside their neighbors and the neighborhood itself.”

As a master-planned community, The Crossvine is designed to grow alongside residents’ families and lives. The Crossvine cultivates connectivity and active living with pocket parks, community gathering spaces, greenbelts, and hike and bike trails woven throughout the development. The neighborhood’s extensive landscaping features meandering block-stone walls, native plants, greenscape berms, and sturdy wood fencing. When completed, the community will be crisscrossed by an extensive greenbelt system comprised of open green spaces and over 12 miles of hike and bike trails.

The first residential phase of The Crossvine broke ground in Fall 2014 and will include 121 single-family homes on 50, 60, and 70-foot lots. Ryland Homes and David Weekley Homes have designed houses specifically for this neighborhood and both award-winning builders have model homes open to the public. Sales of the Texas-heritage style homes, priced from the $230’s to the S400’s, have been brisk and the first residents are slated to move in this March. This phase of construction also features four parks, including an open-play field, a fitness course, and playscapes; an outdoor amphitheater; and an amenity center with a resort-style pool and events pavilion.

Future development at The Crossvine is planned to include garden homes, townhomes, multifamily clusters, and independent and assisted living facilities alongside commercial areas comprised of neighborhood services, retail, office, municipal and potential medical uses. The project’s developer, Schertz 1518 Ltd, has worked closely with the City of Schertz to create a community that fits into Schertz’s rural setting, while responding to the city’s need for responsible growth. When complete, The Crossvine is anticipated to bring in an estimated $500 million in improvements to the area through infrastructure investment, residential and commercial building and the creation of community spaces.
