Let’s Camp at The Crossvine
The great outdoors is always a grand adventure, but sometimes it’s nice to stay close to home. Believe it or not, your own backyard can make for a beautiful outdoor escape – especially when you add a few neighborhood excursions into the mix.
Here are some tips and tricks to have a wonderful campout at The Crossvine.
Tip #1: Grab your favorite camping gear.
When you have all the luxuries of home just footsteps away, you don’t have to pull out all the camping gear.
Maybe you want to pitch a tent and make a few smores, that’s perfect. Or perhaps you want to bring the grill, canopy, and folding chairs. Great! The possibilities are endless when the comforts of home are so close.
Tip #2: Go on a “hike” on the community trail.
Time to turn on your imagination! The Crossvine trail is familiar and friendly, but with a little creativity, it can become a whole new world.
Imagine it’s a hefty hike in a national park or a bold expedition across the arctic. Collect interesting leaves (an app like iPlant will up your plant-identifying game) or funny-shaped rocks along the way.
And here’s a trick: Draw out a map of your imaginary hike and pack a backpack with snacks for a picnic along the way!
Tip #3: Swim the waters of The Crossvine pool.
The best camping adventures include some time in the water!
The Crossvine pool and amenity center is open all summer long, so come jump in! It could be a post-hike swim or a “kayak excursion” using a pool float and some imagination.
A swim is a great way to feel refreshed after a long day under the sun!
Tip #4: Stargaze the night away.
The stars at night are always big and bright around here. Why not spend some time gazing at them?
You could set up a blanket in your own backyard or adventure over to the lawn behind the amphitheater. Don’t forget to bring along a star map or app to find all your favorite constellations!
Tip #5: Make it your own.
The only rule for backyard camping is that there are no rules.
Maybe you’ll take a break inside with a camping-themed movie, or maybe you’ll use the microwave to make some tasty popcorn for stargazing. It’s your campout – so get creative and do it your own way!
Happy camping!
